Bolich Wish Trees

Yarn
31 trees of various sizes
2014
The Bolich Wish Trees art project was inspired by the Indian tradition of tying string or colorful fabric around trees to bring good luck. More than 100 6th-8th grade students from Bolich Middle Schools art classes created the public art installation using 128,000 feet of yarn in the colors of the rainbow. They then collected hundreds of positive wishes from family, friends and community members and hung them from the trees. Like the threads that wrap the trees, individually we are all single threads, but together we form the fabric of society. Working together we can weave a beautiful future for everyone.
