What I remember most about Aunt Laura is the Chihuahua always tucked under her arm. My brothers and sisters and I called her Aunt Laurandchico. Chico lived on a diet of ham fat and the love of Aunt Laura and Uncle Roney. Aunt Laura outlived both Chico and Uncle Roney by 17 and 14 years respectively. She left me her purple afghan because, she said, It's Carol's favorite color. I do not have many memories of Aunt Laurandchico, but they are rich and full, so I unravel them carefully, cherishing every thread.
